Lieutenant General Tso's Popcorn Chicken

Chicken

  • 1 25.5 oz bag of popcorn chicken ((I used Archer Farms from Target))

Sauce

  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 3 stalks sliced green onion ((separated into whites and greens))
  • 2 oz oil ((I used olive oil))
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vinegar ((preferably rice wine vinegar))
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water ((split in two — 1/4 cup each))
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 8 red chiles ((I didn't include when cooking because of Nolan))
  1. Heat the popcorn chicken in a 425° oven for 20 minutes.

  2. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the garlic and onion whites, saute briefly. Add the red chiles if you are including them.

  3. Add soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a rolling boil.

  4. Stir together 1/4 cup water with cornstarch. Add slurry to saucepan while stirring.

  5. Add popcorn chicken and continue stirring to coat evenly.

  6. Serve over rice.
