Dragon Diorama

July 22, 2018

Started painting my Reaper Bones dragon diorama (Dragons Don't Share). Base coats are now done on the dragon body.

edit 9pm: everything felt dry, so i painted the dirt and stone, and did a wash over everything.

edit 7/27: on thursday did a wash over the nails and teeth, and painted the eyes and tongue. tonight i did gray over the stone. The lighting is not doing any justice to it (i think it starting to look pretty good up close).

All paints are from the Reaper Learn to Paint Kit:

  • Body: 3 parts Naga Green, 1 part Leather Brown
  • Underbody, underwings: 3 parts Candlelight Yellow, 2 parts Desert Sand, 1 part Naga Green
  • Stone: Pure Black
  • Dirt: Leather Brown
  • Wash/Body: 2 parts Naga Green, 1 part Pure Black, 8 parts water
  • Wash/Everything else: 1 part Pure Black, 4 parts water
  • Bone: 1 part Candlelight Yellow, 2 parts desert sand, 2 parts water
  • Tongue: some red acrylic Lynda had, it was thick stuff and came out in a huge glob. i diluted it with water, but no idea on the ratios. used it to paint the pupils and tongue. diluted it a bit more  and washed it over the tears in the wings and over some of the claws.
  • Stone: 2 parts Mountain Stone, 1 part Desert Sand
