The entire population of the city is comprised of Adamant Dwarves. Outside of the city, a large market village is comprised of both Dwarves and non-Dwarves. |
Kvuth Aengyd (pronounced Keh-vuth Ang-gidd, translated from "heart of metal" in the Aitauaholdian language) is the capital of the Dwarven nation of Ikvihuvai. The city is ruled by a council of nobles, who all in turn serve the Dwarf king. The king is a hereditary position, but many times in the nation's history, no suitable heir was available. When this has occurred, the council of nobles has selected a new king from among themselves.
Each of the council members represents a noble family. This is nearly always a member born into the family, however, Dwarves are known to adopt other Dwarves into their families for the sake of appointing them to the council. One of the families represents Surface Dwarves, but is restricted from being selected as the king of Ikvihuvai.
Ikvihuvai counts the Elven nation as a close ally. Aside from Elves, non-Dwarves are only allowed into the city proper once a week, and only into specific areas. Outside of the city, non-Dwarves are welcome to the market village, especially merchants and traders.
The Adamant Dwarves are the only people with access to Adamant and as a result, the military is the best-equipped in the entire Shielded Sea region. They have not been to war in over 200 years, but they are still extremely well-funded and trained.
I should probably add something here.
