GURPS Kirinioth - The Nation of Thrinecia Brainstorm
June 26, 2020
Minerals available include coal, oil, copper (with zinc, lead, silver and gold) and iron
Prior to the Alkanos takeover, the nation was somewhat prosperous, a frequent trade partner and at peace with the surrounding nations
Modern era Thrinecia has mostly shut down trade
Thrinecia is openly hostile with the halfling nation to the north; Alkanos' armies marched through the halfling lands in their initial conquest; those animosities have not subsided in the 20+ years since
Xak Muykar, formerly Trortvagos, has not fared well in the years since; with the capital having been relocated to the City of Thrinecia, most funding and labor have followed
In the last 5-10 years, Alkanos' generals, priests and elite troops have been equipped with Orichalum arms and armor; the standard troops are equipped in chain mail, often stained black, and armed primarily with javelin and spear; most soldiers carry a shield, along with a long knife as a secondary weapon; elite troops and generals often wear Orichalum scale mail and carry Orichalum swords and axes
The nation is fairly protected from the worst of the storms by the forest along its north-eastern edge; the trees there are especially hardy, mostly massive evergreens; while this keeps the damaging winds at bay, the eastern half of the nation is frequently rainy, though seasons are temperate
Fauna include large deer, bear, goat , coyote, fox and cougar; the south-eastern coasts see orca, while the western edge along the harbor is home to seal; various sharks frequent both the bay and the outer sea, along with at least one type of aquatic reptile and, rarely, huge octopi
Goat and sheep are the primary herd animals used for milk and meat consumption; wild rice is a staple grain, nuts from the evergreens are harvested in the northeast, and limited wheat and corn are grown in the west
There is very little flora with flowers, though in recent years, Alkanos' priesthood has begun planting colorful plants around the City of Thrinecia; Each of the colors of magic are represented, though, notably, the palace is adorned by mostly black flowers
Clothing is typically plain colors, like tans and browns; the priesthood wear primarily black, but with blue and silver trim; the armies are adorned in black and silver
