sub domain website

December 4, 2018

I spent some time last night and today building a new website on a subdomain. The content is gaming material that won't be of particular interest to just about anyyone I know, but it was a good experience. Most of it is just thrown together last minute. It's got a ways to go, but it's functional, and doesn't look too bad. There's some changes I want to make--formatting, colors, etc., but considering how unfamiliar I am with web design and how little time it took, I'm pretty happy with it so far.

First, it let me test out how subdomains work, and I got a lot more comfortable with both HTML and CSS. I wrote it completely in Notepad++, and looked up anything I needed from books and search engines. A few minutes ago I finished reverse engineering some pseudo-CSS from one of the pages on gmbinder.com, and was able to put a background image into a div element, on top of another background. This was not something I had any idea how to do, and my first attempt just had me linking image files in the HTML.

The new site is kirinioth.landwarinasia.net, and while it has already served its purpose, I'll continue to update it. It gives me a good reason to actually write something and keep producing gaming material.
